Volunteering

Concerned Citizens for Animals has many opportunities for animal lovers to share their skills and talents. We are confident we have just the right volunteer opening to match your interests and schedule. Training and orientation are required and will be provided. Please note our age requirements.

Shelter Assistance

Dependable, enthusiastic volunteers are always in demand to assist at CCA’s no-kill shelter on Saturday afternoons, Sunday mornings, and Sunday afternoons. Activities include feeding and watering; cleaning dog runs, play areas, and cat rooms; minor maintenance; landscaping; dog walking; and socialization.

Those interested in working directly with our dogs must be 16 years old with parental consent. Volunteers working with our cats must be 12 years old and accompanied by a parent. Orientation and training are required.

Thursday Night Dog Walking

During the Daylight Savings Time months, volunteers are needed to walk and socialize our dogs. Orientation and training are required.

Fundraising, Adoption, and Special Events

CCA seizes every opportunity offered to showcase its animals with the goal of finding them responsible, caring, fur-ever homes. We also participate in fundraising and special events in support of our work and to educate the public on our work, needs, and community service initiatives. Events typically occur on Saturdays. Volunteers are needed to help staff these events, which includes assisting with our featured animals and setting up/taking down the events display(s).

Some fundraising and special events will provide opportunities for children under the age of 12 to help. Those events, however, will require the children be under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian.

Second Chances Thrift Shop

Our Thrift Shop, located at 1324 Miller Road in Greenville, needs volunteers to help process donations as well as keep our store tidy and our customers happy. The shop is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but behind-the-scenes help is always needed on days the store isn’t open (Mondays through Wednesdays). Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Feral Cat Colony Program

Utilizing the most humane method of trap, neuter, and return, CCA’s FCCP depends on volunteers to curb feral cat colony growth in our community. By returning to our home page and clicking on “Feral Cat Program,” you can learn more about this life-saving program. If you would like to make a difference in these cats’ lives and are available weekdays, please complete a volunteer application.

Other

No doubt you can think of other ways your skills and talents can be used to help our animals. Please feel free to specify how you would like to volunteer, but here are a couple suggestions:

Donation Collection:

Our shelter and thrift shop depend on items donated by our generous supporters. From towels to canned pet food to furniture and everything in between, CCA is grateful for those items we can use at our shelter or sell to support our work. While some donors are able to drop their items off, other larger items often require transport. If you are available to help when needed, we’d like to know we can call on you.

Skilled Volunteers:

Do you have a skilled trade? Are you a plumber, carpenter, roofer, or electrician? If so, CCA could use your skills during our shelter repair/renovation process and beyond. Your expertise will save CCA hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in maintenance and repairs costs…dollars which we can use to save more lives.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities or know of other ways in which you can help, just download our Volunteer Application Forms and information and mail to the address on the form or go to  Email Application, fill out the form  and send directly. We will be in touch with you. If you have volunteer questions, we are an email away at Volunteer@ccaweb.org! You can also check us out on Meet-Up.com.
